Why is it that hair in certain areas start to grow quicker the older you get? I’m sure there is a scientific reason but really, my nose, ears and eyebrows seem to sprout new wiry hairs overnight.
I never used to think about eyebrows when younger but now everytime I look in the mirror I check for new wild, multi directional grey eyebrow hairs and I’m rarely disappointed!
They have two very important roles to fulfil. One is to protect the eyeball, they channel sweat, rain and moisture away from the eyeballs so our vision stays clear, the second is to provide non verbal communication as they are key to expressing surprise, happiness and anger so bear this in mind before you reach for the tweezers and end up with a permanent look of surprise on your face or worse if you get carried away, no expression at all!
After a bit of digging I’ve found out I have been grooming my brows all wrong, here are some tips from eyebrow guru Anastasia Soare, who works on David Beckham’s arches, …
- Start with a trim. Brush the brows up with a comb or toothbrush (don’t use your current one, or a partners!) trim off around a millimeter.
- Pluck stray hairs after a steamy shower when the pores are open and pluck them in the direction they are growing
- Leave any strays that are below the brow line and try to keep them in check by brushing with the toothbrush.
